I really enjoyed doing the show this week. The show’s growing every week and it’s all because of you!

First we thanked this weeks sponsors. We had 6 people who were very generous and for that we placed them on the photo wall.

After that we had a tutorial by our good friend Tate Nations. He gave us a little lesson on skateboarding photography. Pretty much everything he mentioned could be applied to any type of action/sports photography. Good stuff!

Next we had a good lesson from Mav about Digital Black and White conversion. This lesson is a real eye opener to the mechanics of the Photoshop channel mixer. Also good stuff!
Mav also mentioned a good read from author Scott Kelby, “The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers”. To get more info please click on the link below.

Photo of the Week

Last week we mentioned that our photo of the week would be based on themes. This weeks them was “red”. Our winner for this week was flickr user named Ecky Ducky Loves Threadless. She will recieve a free 365 Days Button from our wonderful sponsors over at Buttonhead.org, the original makers of the 365 Days button. We’d like to thank those of you who participated as well as our sponsor.

Our next Photo of the Week theme will be “Black and White”. You can submit your photos here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/365days/discuss/72157603812707287/

On this weeks show we talked answered an email from flickr user mickeysacks about keeping your color consistent from screen to print.

After the tutorial, Mav mentioned his Blurb Book, which consists of his photos from last years project. Be sure to look in the column to your right for a link to the books page on Blurb. For more info go to www.blurb.com

We also spoke to Tate Nations, a photographer that does a lot of Skateboarding photography. He will be submitting a tutorial to the show next week. The photos we spoke about are listed below.

Congratulations to our photo of the week from Just a Girl With a Camera. Here’s the link to her photo http://www.flickr.com/photos/justagirlwithacamera/2193515253/

We have also introduced something new. We are starting weekly themes next week. This weeks theme is the color red. Submit your photos by going to the 365 Days group thread at http://www.flickr.com/groups/365days/discuss/72157603752811739/

This weeks show comes a little late due to many technical difficulties. But regardless, I proud of this weeks show.

We had my daughter Clarissa on for a tutorial on clone shots. She’s began the project with me on the new year and immediately began creating some interesting ideas. You can check out her photostream at http://www.flickr.com/photos/clairepoff. Some of her images used on the show are below.

I also did a tutorial of my own dealing with using an off camera flash to overpower the sunlight. Photos from show are below.

The techniques used in the tutorial can be explained even better on one of my favorite blogs over at http://www.strobist.com/. I erroneously mentioned that it was thestrobist.com on the show. Sorry.

Mav mentioned a great book on Photoshop called “Photoshop Cosmetic Surgery”. You can get more info by clicking on the photo to the left.

foto-bob.jpgFinally our Photo of the week as nominated by our 365 Days forum on Flickr is foto-bob. Click on the photo to see it on foto-bob’s photostream.

One one last note, don’t forget that we have a new photo wall on the set and would love to have your fave 365 Day photo up there. For a donation of $5.00 or more (paypal link on your right) you can get your photo up on the wall as well as have your name and face listed here on our blog.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Stephen

January 5th 2008 - We need some eye candy for the podcast set

I need to apologize in advance for the poor audio. I was on a tight schedule Saturday and forgot to plug the boom mic in. So what you’re hearing is camera audio. Sorry.

In spite of that I believe we had a great show. Mav and I both shot some tips and tricks tutorials that should be helpful to those of you a little new to self-portraiture and lighting.

In my tutorial I took some demonstration photos. You can review the unaltered photos for their sharpness by clicking on the photos

Mav also mentioned the book “Photographing People”. For more info, just follow the link below.

If you’d like to view more from our photo of the week winner the Brownhorse just follow the link below http://www.flickr.com/photos/the_brownhorse/2158400152/

Finally, I mentioned that we’re building a photowall for the podcast set. The photo at the top is the beginning of this little project. If you’d like to be included on the photowall as well as here on the blog, it’s a simple as making a $5.00 or more donation via our paypal link to the right. You’ll be helping us with production costs and hosting as well as any future events that we may have.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the show. Leave any comments or suggestions below.
