Special Guest Jessi Bruntz
This week we had a very special guest with us. Jessi Bruntz was on our show back in February and was the winner of Picture of the Week last week.
After seeing her photo I decided to resume my hunt for a camera that would allow me to take TTV (through the viewfinder) shots. I was lucky enough to find one and had a fun week with it. So Mav and I thought it only appropriate to have the Queen of TTV back on the show to give us the lowdown on her workflow.
Be both discussed photos from our flickr streams. If you’d like to view these photos:

Thanks so much to those of you who let go of some of your hard earned cash to help us out. It really means a lot to us.

Mav’s Comic

We opened the show with some talk about Mav’s comic. He’s written a 24 page epic involving four “Cosmic Hellcats” on a science mission in space. He plans to have it ready by Comicon and also hopes to do the show from there on April 24th! Sounds like a good show to me.
Long Exposure Tutorial
Our tutorial for the week was about long exposures or night photography. We spent a little time dicussing different techniques and gave some examples from my 2006 365 Days set on flickr. To see just the night shots, go HERE
We also talked about two of our audience members who have tutorials on thier flickr sites. The first was from flickr user like_shipwrecks and here tutorial can be found HERE. MacAddict also has some great stuff as well. You can find his tutorials HERE.
Thanks for being a shining light to those trying to continue thier photography education!

I’ve been backed up lately and getting the show out has been a lot of work… sometimes the show notes have been suffering. Anyone want to be a production assistant?
This week Mav and I were both of town for a bit. Mav went to Tallahassee Florida for a work assignment and later in the week I was in Moselle, Mississippi to visit with some family.
While there, my Dad took me out to see a cabin in his little rural community that was made out of trees that had fallen during Katrina. So Mav and I decided to do a little interview with Mr. Patterson, the gentleman who was building the cabin. My Dad, Scott Hall, was kind enough to do a little interview with him while I ran the camera. He’s known Mr. Patterson for a long time.
In the spirit of full disclosure, since we’re airing the show on our local channel 3 here in Montgomery, we are leaving room for commercial breaks. We don’t have any advertisers yet, so I am taking the opportunity to fill it with some advertisement for my film “Songs About Your Girlfriend”. I figured… I work really hard on this show… I should get some benefit right?
. I hope you guys will take a moment to give it a look and maybe purchase a copy for yourself.
Later on in the show, we talked about our winner for Picture of the Week. Last weeks theme was to “Jump Like Mikey” and you guys sent in a lot of fun photos.
Our winner was from flickr user M. Gruber.

We also spoke about another fun photo by hellopoe.

Next weeks theme involves going on location. We’d like to see you guys go somewhere other than where you usually take your photos and tell us a story about that location. We look forward to seeing what you guys have to show us about your hometown.
I wanted to close by saying that… I really didn’t know what Mav’s studio looked like before I got his footage the next day. LOL… I wish I had’ve brought up the Easter decorations. I’m sure he would’ve had some good things to say about that. He had those items laying around from a shoot he was doing the day before. Nice.
See you next week!

Last week was pretty hectic for both Mav and I. I didn’t get the show notes up and we didn’t get to film a tutorial. So we decided to do a live tutorial on how to light for a Black or a White backdrop.
Picture of the Week
After that we announced Helder as our Picture of the Week. How cool is this?

We aslso spoke about our runner up photo from Jessi

365 Love
Speaking of Jessi, We had both her and James on the show a couple of weeks ago and they talked about getting married. Well they finally made the “leap” (sorry, I crack myself up when I’m tired) on leap day.

They’ve had people ask where they are registered. Jessi says that they are not registered anywhere and asked for anyone who would like to give them a gift to go to thier website and buy a print. That way you have a piece of thier art and they can use the money for immigration expenses and what not. Link is below.

Leap Day

The show ran a little too long so we had to cut a bit out, but one of our regrets was not thinking about Leaping for Leap Day as a mini challenge. Lots of you did some WONDERFUL leaping photos (joined in as well). If you’d like to see them, Just click on this link here for more leaping goodness.
Podcast Min Challenge
Lastly, we talked about our mini challenge for this week. The theme is Solid Color Backgrounds
See you next week!
